First Nation Churches of British Columbia
Across this beautiful province, christian churches were built between 1850 and 1910 by our First Nations people. The churches are mostly simple structures, made from wood, not meant to stand the test of time. And yet, here they remain, some of the oldest buildings in the province and physical evidence of the colonial period. The purpose of the site is to document these beautiful structures while they are still here, and to provide the reader with a sense of the simple beauty of the buildings and their relationship to the land and the First Nations.
